Tamerlan
[Scroll down for English]
Rusko-srpski multiinstrumentalista Timur Iskandarov, svojim projektom Tamerlan nastavlja da istražuje muziku do krajnjih granica.
kombinaciji još nekih instrumenata i zvukova stvorilo jezik kojim mogu najbolje
3. Albumima The
Antiexistence i Gemini - Worlds of Eternal Creation započeo si istraživanje u
muzici, koje si nastavio svojim poslednjim i najnovijim albumom AIN. Kako si ti
zadovoljan njim?
muzičare (Olja Frolo iz fenomenalnog hrvatskog benda Loell Duinn,
Cecilia Bjargo iz benda Arkana, Lesley Malone - Sol Invictus, Tony Wakeford iz
benda Sol Invictus, Mike O’Brien -
pohvalu!
i raznovrsne vokale.
doprineli ovom albumu: Marc Hoyland, cija se obrada „Dance Of The Twilight
Stars“ jako lepo uklopila u ceo repertoar albuma, kao i Priapus23 uz njegov
Sombre Soniks Studios, čiji je mastering pridodao magiji.
5. Živeo si u Srbiji, neko vreme. Sada u maju imao
si koncert u Novom Sadu. Možemo li se u skorije vreme nadati novom nastupu u
Srbiji, tvojoj drugoj domovini?
stranici izdavača Debemur Morti Productions i kupiti u MP3 i fizičkoj verziji.
Gde još možemo doći do izdanja tvog najnovijeg, a i prošlih albuma?
digitalno izdanje nabaviti preko Sombre Soniks Studios izdavača, a The Trinity
Of Painted Symphonies (split sa projektima Hoyland i Melankolia) preko kuće
Naturmacht Productions.
Možda čak i u bližoj budućnosti.
Srbiju, pokrenuo si kompilaciju za pomoć ugroženima u poplavama (Hands fromShadows – A Charity Compilation for the Flood Victims of Serbia ), na čemu smo
ti vrlo zahvalni. Kako je sve to proteklo? Koliko se muzičara odazvalo tvom
apelu?
Tamerlan
Russian-Serbian
instrumentalist Timur Iskandarov, his project Tamerlan continues to explore music
to the limit. It seems to be itself a completely unique way, where their music takes
us into a mystical world unreal world of melody and total serenity while listening
to his music. About future plans, his music, we talked with Timur for our Celtic
- Slavic Webzine Serbia.
1. Why
the name Tamerlan? How did the idea?
I have the honor to carry the name of one of the greatest conquerors and
generals in history. Such is the significance of which is hidden under the name
Tamerlan aka Timur Lenk. Is that I was tempted to call the project "the ultimate
darkness from the black Satan's abyss", but is there any need to seek any
other name, when it's so important and symbolic, but with you from birth?
2. Musical
direction you define as dark folk / neoclassical / ambient. What is the impact that
you create such music?
It turns out
that my non-classical playing classical guitar, combined some other instruments
and sounds created a language that can best do the talking. I know it sounds like
a cliche, but honestly, I'm not anxious to put it to work in a particular definition.
Although it must be stated something, just to get surprised one day because my facebook
put to the house / hip hop or gospel cults ...
3. The album
Antiexistence and Gemini - Worlds of Eternal Creation've started researching the
music, you've continued with his last and most recent album AIN. How are you satisfied
with it?
I
think the album is kind of AIN finally able to express myself the way I've always
wanted. This kind of album I wanted to do even before I started as Tamerlan, and
now that it's here, I can not be prouder. Although if we're honest, no matter
how strange it may sound, I do not feel fulfilled ... which is actually a good
thing. This means that this project is still a long road ahead.
4. On the last
album had a really excellent musicians (Olja Frolo the phenomenal Croatian band
Loell Duinn, Cecilia Bjargo band Arkan, Lesley Malone - Sol Invictus, Tony Wakeford
of Sol Invictus band, Mike O'Brien - Melankolia and Mattias Borgh - Arkana) for
associates, which is commendable! How did it come to this mutual cooperation? Can
you tell us more about that?
At the
start I knew I was going to AIN-to get out of creative "comfort zone"
and try some new elements. Appearance of musicians was one of those planned
elements, primarily because I wanted a completely natural sound with real
instruments (before I had to use programmed beats, because the drums I'm no
good) and varied vocals. But in the end everything was transferred to a special
level because it coincided that all the guests on the album that people really appreciate
as friends and as artists. Bands Arcana and Sol Invictus were among the first with
whom I long ago discovered this whole dark folk / ambient world,, while members
Loell Duinn, as Mike O'Brien among people with whom I communicate the most recent
years. I also noted two very important friends who have contributed to this
album: Marc Hoyland, whose processing "Dance Of The Twilight Stars"
very nice fit in the whole repertoire of albums, as well as Priapus23 with his Sombre
Soniks Studios, which has added mastering magic.
5. You have
lived in Serbia for some time. Now in May, had a concert in Novi Sad. Could we soon
hope for a new show in Serbia, your second home?
Frankly, I'll
do my best to get to at least one concert in Serbia by the end of the year. After
three years of abstinence, concert, performance in Novi Sad showed me how much
I missed playing live, and the Serbian public.
6. The new album
is free to listen to the BandCamp page publisher Debemur Morti Productions and buy the MP3 and the
physical version. Where else can we get to the release of your most recent, and
past albums?
Debemur Morti
Productions has placed the album in physical and digital form wherever they may
qualify. So that those who want an album, can find it in most of the world's
distribution (including publishers such as Season Of Mist and Nuclear Blast), as
well as standard services such as Amazon, Ebay, Itunes and so on. As in
previous editions are concerned, I know that The Antiexistence can be expanded as
a digital edition available through Sombre Soniks Studios publisher, and The Trinity
Of Painted Symphonies (split with projects Hoyland and Melankólia) over the
house Naturmacht Productions. Unfortunately, other issues are a little harder sold
separately, but the re-release will surely come. Perhaps even in the near future.
7. Due to the
tragic floods that have afflicted Serbia in May, you've started a compilation to
aid development in flood (Hands fromShadows - A Charity Compilation for the Flood Victims of
Serbia), for which we are very grateful to you. How is all this passed?
How many musicians responded to your appeal? When can we expect a physical edition,
having so far been available compilation of the MP3 version?
The response of those who wanted to help was much higher than what we Priapus23
(owner of publishing, which represents the digital version of the compilation) and
I expected. We felt like the battle of Helmovog abyss when Gand .... ahem .... In
the end we ended up with 68 songs and over 6:30 hours of music. There would be more,
but some just 10 authors had to give up due to lack of time. Soon it will be a
compilation appear in physical form through Naked Lunch Records publisher, divided
into six parts, which will be published monthly.
8. What are
your plans for the future?
In one of the previous questions, I said that AIN album what I've always
wanted to do. Now when I come to it, I feel brand new flurry of creative
freedom. Perhaps higher than at the beginning of this whole activity. So I will
use that freedom to explore with Tamerlan new and unexpected musical landscapes
and "upgrade" the language in which to express. In addition, I plan
to be in one form or reissued prior and today almost inaccessible material (Gemini
album, Koyunbaba and Liminal Tales EP), as well as to devote more concert activities.
9. In the
end, what told his audience in Serbia?
I really hope that I'll be able to come to a concert in Serbia soon. Hope
to see you then. In the meantime, listen to the AIN. Thank you very much for
your support (I could and more original way to finish the interview, but ...)
